Final round of Overseas Voter Registrations(OVR) in Australia (19-26 June 2014)


The final round of Overseas Voter Registrations(OVR) for Fijian citizens in Australia will take place from Thursday 19th June to Thursday 26th June in the ACT, NSW, Queensland, Northern Territory, Victoria and Western Australia.

The Fiji Elections Office is committed to reaching and registering as many Fiji Citizens who would like to vote in Fiji’s 2014 Elections. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call the Registration Teams ASAP 0450 130 872 for QLD/NT/WA, 0404 466 984 for VIC/ACT and 0466 489 452 for NSW. This will be the last opportunity for Fijian citizens to register in Australia.

Note: Applicants must produce their Valid Fiji Passport and be at least 18 years of age in order to register. However, persons who present their expired Fiji passports and who submit applications for urgent passport renewal during the Voter Registration period will be eligible to register using their new passport numbers. Passport applications are available on our Fiji Passports page.

Please note that your immigration status in Australia does not matter for Fiji’s Voter Registration (ie even if your Australian visa has expired or you are on a Bridging Visa, you are still eligible to register to vote).

Staff of the High Commission and Consulate will also be on hand to offer consular advice and assist with Fiji passport applications for renewals/replacement/new passports, dual citizenship enquiries, as well as Fiji birth, death & marriage certificates.

Fiji General Election


The 2014 General Election will be held on 17 September, 2014.

The rules that will govern the 2014 General Election have also been officially released, including the details about how to vote and how your vote will be counted.

They are contained in the Electoral Decree 2014, which His Excellency the President of Fiji, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, assented to on 28 March, 2014 . Please click here to download a copy of the Electoral Decree.
