Important Notice Regarding Fiji Passport Processing until July 2012

Republic of Fiji Passport Image

Given the current shortage of Fiji Passport booklets at the Fiji Immigration Department (Suva), Passport processing times for applications lodged at the Fiji High Commission (Canberra) and Fiji Consulate General - Sydney (for NSW residents) will be delayed until the receipt of the new stock of booklets (July 2012). As an interim measure, Fiji Citizens in urgent need of passports are encouraged to apply for a revalidation of their current (or recently expired) passport. If the old passport has been lost/stolen/damaged or has expired more than 1 year ago, an Emergency Passport may be applied for.

Details of Passport Revalidation and Emergency Passport.

Please note that travel documents (Certificates of Identity) are still being issued to facilitate emergency travel into Fiji only, however, their use for travel outside of Fiji is limited and not intended to replace a Fiji passport/Emergency Passport.

For all other emergency travel questions, please contact the Department of Immigration in Fiji at the following address:

Important Notice to Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) Pensioners

Pension Image

The new FNPF Act will become effective on March 1, 2012 and FNPF will introduce a number of changes that will give all members the opportunity to take control of their pension and build an even better retirement for themselves, their children and their children's children.

The Fund would like to inform the general public that current FNPF pensioners living outside of Fiji would also be affected by the changes to the pension scheme. These pensioners need to be validated, counselled and choose their preferred option under the new pension scheme, before 29 February 2012. If a current pensioner is NOT validated by this date, he/she will not be entitled to a pension option and will not receive pension payments from 1st March 2012.

The Fiji High Commission (Canberra) will assist with validations for all FNPF Pensioners who are resident in Australia, except for those Pensioners resident in New South Wales, who need to contact the Fiji Consulate General (Sydney) on (02) 8904 0476 for assistance.

Overseas-based pensioners can also access further information about the validation process from FNPF's website www.myfnpf.com.fj. They can also call FNPF's Pension Support Line on +(679) 323 8888, +(679) 662 8088, +(679) 888 1918 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
