26. Certificate of Identity (CI) can only be issued to Fiji Citizens whose passports have expired or are lost and urgently need to travel to Fiji. 

·          Certificates of Identity are valid for a year from the date of issue and are not renewable;

·          A Certificate of Identity is issued only once;

·          A CI is only valid for one way travel to Fiji;

·          A CI cannot be issued for travel from Fiji to Australia or another country

27. APPLICATION FOR A CERTIFICATE OF IDENTITY

·          Completion of a passport application form as explained above.

 

ADDITIONAL ACCOMPANYING DOCUMENTS

  • An accompanying letter to state the reasons for emergency travel;
  • Expired or damaged passport;
  • If passport is lost/stolen; a police advice slip or report as evidence that the loss/theft has been reported to the local police;
  • Documentary evidence of circumstances requiring the  need for an emergency travel document eg. Doctors certificate in cases of emergency travel to visit sick relative in Fiji
  • A copy of any Australian Government-issued, photo ID (drivers licence, proof of age card, university student card etc) which has been certified by an Australian Justice of Peace
  • Relevant fee*
